Community College of Philadelphia and Drexel University have entered into a Program-to-Program Transfer Agreement to facilitate the transfer of students who earn an Associate in Arts in Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade). They will be assured third-year status into Drexel University Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (PK-4 Certification) which includes the online and on-campus formats of the program. 

Students who complete the Associate in Arts (A.A.) in Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade) at Community College of Philadelphia and meet Drexel University’s entry requirements are assured third-year status in Drexel University’s online Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Elementary Education (PK-4 Certification).

The following terms and conditions apply for Community College of Philadelphia graduates entering the online B.S. in Elementary Education (PK-4 Certification):

• Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with the A.A. in Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade)with 62 semester credits or more as described in the transfer guide included in this Agreement.
• Earn a final cumulative Community College of Philadelphia grade point average of at least a 3.0.
• Obtain qualifying scores on PAPA/CORE/SAT/ACT/equivalent paths at the time of application as outlined in the transfer guide included in this Agreement.
• Meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Law, 23 Pa. C.S.A., section 6344 (relating to prospective childcare personnel).
• Meet deadlines for admissions application, payment of fees and other enrollment requirements that apply to other entering students at Drexel University. The Application fee is waived. Drexel University will offer admission to Drexel University following review and determination that they meet admissions criteria.
• Enroll directly to Drexel University within no more than 2 years of completing the associate degree from Community College of Philadelphia and not attend another institution between graduation and attendance at Drexel University.

Dual Admissions

Students pursuing the benefits of this Program-to-Program Agreement may also pursue dual admissions . In addition to the conditions mentioned above, students interested in pursuing and qualifying for the benefits of transfer through the Drexel University Dual Admissions Agreement are required to:

• Submit an electronic Dual Admissions Intent form before completion of no more than 45 graded college level credits from all colleges/universities attended. 
• Enroll into the full-time on-campus version of the program

Benefits of dual admissions include:

• Application fee to Drexel University will be waived.
• Merit Scholarships for dual admissions students who enroll full-time (12 or more credits). 
• Informational meetings with Drexel University staff at Drexel University’s campus and Community College of Philadelphia’s main campus for assistance in matriculating to Drexel University.

Students previously matriculated to Drexel University are not eligible for the Drexel University dual admissions program.

Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a Drexel University Admissions Representative and/or a Community College of Philadelphia Transfer Counselor, Academic Advisor or Curriculum Coordinator to develop a course taking strategy to maximize course transferability.

NOTE:

• Graduates of the A.A. in Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade) program at Community College of Philadelphia will be admitted into Drexel University’s B.S. in Elementary Education (PK-4 Certification) program with third-year (junior) status. Students who enroll full-time into this program will be able to complete the B.S. in Elementary Education (PK-4 Certification) degree within two years provided they complete the appropriate sequence of their remaining course work at Drexel University. Part-time students entering the accelerated online B.S. in Elementary Education (PK-4 Certification): degree program for working professionals will be able to complete the degree program, within ten quarter terms.
• Drexel University will need official transcripts for evaluation of credit from all institutions attended including military transcripts. Credit will also be awarded for AP, CLEP, etc. with appropriate documentation. Developmental courses are not eligible for transfer.
• Credit for grades accepted as transfer credit must be a “C” or higher.
• Drexel University requires matriculated students to complete half of their major courses at Drexel University. Drexel University will accept a maximum of 62 semester hours/96 quarter hours in transfer.
• In compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Chapter 354, and for formal admission to the Teacher Certification Program within the School of Education at Drexel University, students must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Thus, no less than a cumulative GPA of 3.0 will be accepted at the point of admission.
  • Community College of Philadelphia will identify all courses that are credit for experience with the identification of “S” for satisfactory; this applies only to the Birth to 4th Grade Program at CCP. Students with an “S” have satisfactorily met the assigned course-based competencies with a "C" or better as noted on the legend of Community College of Philadelphia’s official transcript. Credits for these courses transfer in as a part of the student’s major as per this Agreement. 
  • Community College of Philadelphia students who transfer are responsible only for requirements in place at Drexel University at the time of the student's enrollment in the A.A. Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade) curriculum. 
  • Students who have pursued a Community College of Philadelphia associate degree study other than the A.A. in Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade) or who do not earn the associate degree prior to transfer to Drexel University are not covered by this Agreement. Such students will be considered for admissions on an individual basis and their credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis. 

To encourage Community College of Philadelphia graduates to transfer to Drexel University, Drexel University agrees to the following:

Application Fee Waiver

To waive the application fee for students who apply to Drexel University. 

Academic Scholarships

This Early Childhood Education Program Agreement is funded through a grant from the William Penn Foundation in support of the early childhood education workforce in the Philadelphia region to build strong aligning career pathways. Part-time students working as full-time employees in the early childhood education field and who choose to transfer from Community College of Philadelphia to Drexel University under this Agreement may apply for the Pennsylvania Child Care Association’s T.E.A.C.H. (Teacher Education And Compensation Helps) Early Childhood® PENNSYLVANIA Scholarship Program. This scholarship enables students to receive ninety percent of their tuition costs.

• Full-time on-campus Dual Admissions students who do not receive the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® PENNSYLVANIA Scholarship are eligible for the dual admissions scholarships as noted in the Dual Admissions Agreement. 

Scholarships may be renewed each year contingent upon the students submitting their FAFSA and remaining in good academic standing at Drexel University.

Financial Aid

To provide students with Drexel University financial aid information and receive full consideration for Drexel Universityfinancial aid upon matriculation at Drexel University. Financial Aid will be awarded to transfer students on the same basis as other Drexel University students. They will have equal access to all state and federal financial aid programs. 

Students are strongly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) before May 1steach year to determine if they are eligible for a state grant. 

Community College of Philadelphia students pursuing the Associate in Arts in Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade) are strongly encouraged to talk with the Community College of Philadelphia Education department to discuss this Agreement and develop a course taking strategy to maximize course transferability.

Community College of Philadelphia's Associate in Arts in Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade) is approved for the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Elementary Education (PK-4 Certification) at Drexel University. Students are advised to follow the Transfer Guide for this Agreement.

Transfer guides are created and maintained to help students and staff make appropriate course and program choices. The guides show how the requirements for the appropriate Community College of Philadelphia associate degree transfer to the bachelor's institution. It is, however, possible for program requirements at Community College of Philadelphia or the transfer institution to change without advanced notice.

Students are advised to visit with a Community College of Philadelphia education faculty, academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.
