Community College of Philadelphia has two types of transfer agreements with Drexel University: dual admissions and program-to-program. To benefit from any of these agreements students must earn an appropriate associate degree before transfer. These agreements are not exclusive of one another and the agreements can complement one another.

Dual Admissions

Drexel University and Community College of Philadelphia have developed a dual admissions agreement. This agreement is designed to assist students who earn an appropriate associate degree to transfer to Drexel University. Drexel University guarantees admissions on the condition that students meet all the requirements.

Admissions into a particular major is not guaranteed. Upon transfer, students earn junior standing for matching majors. Support and financial incentives, including scholarship awards, are built-in to offer students the best opportunity for success.

Dual admissions eligibility

Students who do not qualify for dual admissions, are still eligible to transfer to Drexel University. Please review the list of approved programs below and visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.

Program-to-Program

These are agreements in which an entire curriculum or program of study is accepted, so graduates of these specific associate degree programs transfer with advanced standing to a matching specific bachelor's degree program at Drexel University.

Early Childhood Education Program-to-Program Agreement for Community College of Philadelphia students who earn the Associate in Arts (A.A.) in Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade).

Drexel University Online

Community College of Philadelphia has a program-to-program "letter of understanding" agreement with Drexel University Online. This agreement awards reduced tuition rates to Community College of Philadelphia students, alumni, employees, board members, and immediate family members who participate in Drexel University Online programs and courses. Students pursuing an online program through Drexel University Online are not eligible for dual admissions.

Transfer guides are created and maintained to help students and staff make appropriate course and program choices. The guides show how the requirements for the appropriate Community College of Philadelphia associate degree transfer to the bachelor's institution. It is, however, possible for program requirements at Community College of Philadelphia or the transfer institution to change without advanced notice.

Transfer guides are not available for all programs. Students are advised to visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

Drexel University welcomes applicants to the dual admissions program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to Drexel University with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering a bachelor's degree program.

To be eligible for this program, students must:

• Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 45 graded college level credits (grades of A, B, C, D, F) from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, they are strongly encouraged to meet with a Drexel University admissions representative and a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor to develop a course-taking strategy.
• Complete the Drexel University admissions application process for the program of interest during the student's final semester at Community College of Philadelphia or within a one (1) year period following the award of the Community College of Philadelphia associate degree.
• Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in one of the approved programs listed.
• Earn the minimum final cumulative Community College of Philadelphia GPA required for the specific Drexel University program of interest; see Drexel University Admissions Criteria chart for details. Only courses with a grade of "C" or higher will be eligible for transfer.
• Enroll directly to Drexel University within one year of completing an appropriate associate degree program of study from Community College of Philadelphia and not attend another institution between graduation and attendance at Drexel University.

NOTE:

• Students who have previously been matriculated to Drexel University are not eligible for the Drexel University dual admissions program.
• A full-time student will be admitted with third-year (junior) status to Drexel University provided the student completes the appropriate associate degree program at Community College of Philadelphia.
• Drexel University offers courses on a 10-week quarter system. Fall term enrollment is preferred. Winter, spring or summer term enrollment does not apply to all Drexel University programs. Applicants must follow the admissions criteria set by Drexel University; see chart with admissions criteria.
• International Students: Students whose first language is not English but have completed 24 college-level credits including English Composition I and II with a grade of "C" or higher from Community College of Philadelphia or another regionally accredited institution in the United States are not required take the TOEFLiBT or IELTS tests.
• Dual admissions is not an option for online programs through Drexel University Online.
  
  

Drexel University Admissions Criteria

Advantages of Dual Admissions

Students who participate in dual admissions are eligible for the following benefits:

• Application fee to Drexel University will be waived.
• Scholarship for dual admissions students enrolled full time (12 or more credits). Eligibility is based on the cumulative Community College of Philadelphia GPA. Students who attended other colleges and universities must have also earned a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at all other institutions.
• Informational meetings with Drexel University staff at Drexel University's campus and Community College of Philadelphia's Main Campus for assistance in matriculating to Drexel University. Students pursuing an online program through Drexel University Online are not eligible for dual admissions.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

The Drexel Promise

Beginning in fall 2023, instead of offering the Merit scholarships, Drexel University will "provide students who have earned an associate degree at an accredited community college in either Pennsylvania or New Jersey with a renewable scholarship for 50% of the cost of tuition as they work to complete their bachelor's degree as a Drexel Dragon." 

Dual admissions is not required for Community College of Philadelphia students who earn an associate degree to qualify for The Drexel Promise, however, students must still meet the admissions requirements for their Drexel University major. Therefore, it is recommended students submit a dual admissions intent form to assist them with admissions as noted in the "Drexel University Admissions Criteria" table above. 

Once admitted into Drexel University, only associate degree graduates who enroll full-time and on-campus at Drexel University will be awarded The Drexel Promise.

Students awarded The Drexel Promise, will not qualify for additional Drexel University merit scholarships unless they are also members of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society. Such students will be considered for an additional scholarship upon submitting proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership.

Renewal of scholarships:

All merit scholarships are renewable, contingent upon the student maintaining the required cumulative Drexel University GPA. Students must maintain full-time status, be in good academic standing and achieve university-stated GPA as reviewed prior to fall term each year. The university-stated GPA is published each year. Scholarships are applied only during class terms and are not applied while students are on co-op.

Financial Aid

Dual admissions students transferring to Drexel University are fully eligible for federal, state and additional institutional aid, based on need and/or merit.

Transfer students will be awarded financial aid on the same basis as all Drexel University students and will have equal access to all state and federal financial aid programs.

The following Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) and Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree programs at Community College of Philadelphia are approved for corresponding degree programs at Drexel University.
