2023-24 Academic Year Call for Proposals

The purpose of the FCTL Faculty Fellowship program is to support faculty members in their practice and research related to teaching and learning practices. For this work, each fellowship recipient earns a stipend as follows: $2500 in Fall and $2500 in Spring. The Fellowship is open to all full-time and part-time faculty in the three academic divisions: Business & Technology, Liberal Studies, and Math, Science & Health Careers, as well as the Division of Educational Support Services.

The goal for the fellowship is to plan and implement a project based on best practices in teaching and learning. Additionally, fellowship projects need to align with the following four priorities:

Priority 1: Improve retention and completion outcomes for ALL students.

Priority 2: Increase employment success rates and career goal attainment for ALL students.

Priority 3: Improve the student experience for ALL students.

Priority 4: Increase employee progress and growth through meaningful and targeted professional development and enhanced operational efficiency.

The project’s outcomes may include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Share teaching methods/materials with faculty/the College community
  • Engage students in hands-on/experiential learning
  • Collaborate with other faculty to plan/implement a research study
  • Create resources for faculty use

Expectations

  • Each academic year, up to five fellows will be selected, and the fellows will be expected to present their project details/findings to the College community at the end of fall semester and again at the end of Spring semester.
  • In addition, the Fellows will be asked to share the project details and how faculty across disciplines can use the strategies/techniques in a FCTL CANVAS shell.
  • At the beginning of each semester, the fellow submits a proposal, which outlines the plan for the term, including outcomes and assessment measures. At the end of each semester, the fellow submits a report, which explains the activities completed and indicates whether the outcomes were met.

How to Apply:  

The completed 1–2-page proposal should consist of the following:

ü  Goal of Proposed Project: What major issues will be resolved by the project?

ü  Target Population: Who is the target population?

ü  Need for Project: Why is this project essential?

ü  Anticipated Outcomes: How will you know if your project was successful and if the goal of the project was met?

ü  Measures: How will you measure if the anticipated outcome was attained?

ü  Strategies: What strategies will you undertake to meet your intended goal and achieve the anticipated outcomes?
