About the FCTL
Our Mission
As a faculty driven effort, the Faculty Center for Teaching & Learning is uniquely positioned to be at the forefront of faculty professional learning, programming, and research at Community College of Philadelphia.
Our goal is to enhance teaching effectiveness and promote interdisciplinary exchange and collegiality. Effective teaching is informed by the literature on how people learn and creates classrooms, both face-to-face and on-line, where deep learning occurs, fostering students' intellectual, personal and professional growth consistent with the mission of the College.
The programming and resources we offer are responsive to the needs of our faculty and consistent with current trends and best practices in higher education. The FCTL offers workshops and presentations to increase awareness of current research on learning and pedagogy, including classroom based assessment practices, innovations in technology and teaching, and best practices for addressing the specific needs of our diverse student body. We also encourage faculty to reflect on and develop their teaching practices, individually and collectively, by providing opportunities for exchanging ideas and experiences related to teaching and learning.
The Faculty Center for Teaching & Learning helps integrate the efforts to promote effective teaching campus wide by partnering with various offices, programs and College initiatives. We are committed to serving all faculty, full and part time, across disciplines or programs.
FCTL Bylaws
The FCTL Bylaws were revised and approved by the FCTL Advisory Committee in September 2021.
