View Institution Transfer Agreement

The Community College of Philadelphia has a program-to-program guaranteed admissions transfer agreement with York College of Pennsylvania. To benefit from this Agreement, students must earn an associate degree before transfer.

Under this Agreement, York College of Pennsylvania will accept all or most of the courses from the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Nursing from Community College of Philadelphia to York College of Pennsylvania’s online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) degree assuring third-year junior status.

Transfer guides are created and maintained to help students and staff make appropriate course and program choices. The guides show how the requirements for the appropriate Community College of Philadelphia associate degree transfer to the bachelor's institution. It is, however, possible for program requirements at Community College of Philadelphia or the transfer institution to change without advanced notice.

Admissions Eligibility

Under this Agreement, York College of Pennsylvania guarantees admissions to their online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) degree with third-year (junior) status on the condition the student satisfies the following:

  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with the Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing.
  • Earn a final cumulative Community College of Philadelphia grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0
  • Complete York College of Pennsylvania’s admissions application the semester before the student plans to matriculate to York College of Pennsylvania (or by no later than three weeks before the beginning of a term). York College of Pennsylvania offers six start dates per year. The admissions application fee for York College of Pennsylvania is waived under this Agreement.
  • Obtain and hold a valid and unencumbered RN license. York College of Pennsylvania will offer conditional admittance to Community College of Philadelphia graduates who have yet to pass the NLCEX but wish to begin their studies. Students may take up to 9 credits before they will require a valid RN license to continue their progress in the program.

Students interested in this Agreement are strongly encouraged to talk with a Community College of Philadelphia Program Advisor for the Nursing Department and/or York College of Pennsylvania Admissions Representative to develop a course taking strategy to maximize course transferability.

NOTE:

  • Community College of Philadelphia graduates of the A.A.S. in Nursing will be given “Block transfer credit” for their nursing courses. Transfer credit will be awarded for courses with a grade of “C” or above for any and all courses transferred to York College of Pennsylvania. Grades of “D” will not be accepted. Developmental courses are not eligible for transfer.
  • Students who have pursued a Community College of Philadelphia associate degree study other than those designated in this Agreement or who do not earn the associate degree in the designated curricula and who wish to transfer to York College of Pennsylvania are not covered by this Agreement. Such students will be considered for admissions on an individual basis and their credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
  • Community College of Philadelphia students interested in transfer to York College of Pennsylvania’s online Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree are expected to use the Transfer Guide included in this Agreement. Community College of Philadelphia students who transfer are responsible only for requirements in place at York College of Pennsylvania as of the date of their enrollment in the Nursing curriculum at Community College of Philadelphia.

Tuition Discount and Financial Aid

Partnership Discount

Community College of Philadelphia A.A.S. Nursing graduates enrolling into York College of Pennsylvania’s online RN to BSN will receive a $2,100 discount on tuition. The cost of the core nursing program (30 credits) without a partnership is $12,000 whereas the cost of the core nursing program (30 credits) with a partnership is $9,900.

Financial Aid

All transfer students will be provided with York College of Pennsylvania financial aid information and receive full consideration for York College of Pennsylvania financial aid upon matriculation at York College of Pennsylvania just like native students with junior status. They will have equal access to all state and federal financial aid programs.

Approved Academic Transfer Guide

Under this Agreement, York College of Pennsylvania will accept all the courses from the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Nursing from Community College of Philadelphia as “Block Credit” to satisfy half of York College of Pennsylvania online Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Nursing (RN to BSN) program assuring third-year/junior status.
