Community College of Philadelphia has three types of transfer agreements with Temple University: dual admissions, core-to-core and program-to-program. To benefit from any of these agreements students must earn an appropriate associate degree before transfer. These agreements are not exclusive of one another and the agreements can complement one another.
Dual Admissions
Temple University and Community College of Philadelphia have developed a dual admissions agreement. This agreement is designed to assist students who earn an appropriate associate degree to transfer to Temple University. Temple University guarantees admissions on the condition that students meet all the requirements.
Admissions into a particular major is not guaranteed. Upon transfer, students earn junior standing for matching majors. Support and financial incentives, including scholarship awards, are built-in to offer students the best opportunity for success.
Students who do not qualify for dual admissions, are still eligible to transfer to Temple University. Please review the list of approved programs below and visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.
Core-to-Core (Gen Ed-to-Gen Ed)
Temple University and Community College of Philadelphia have a core-to-core agreement known as Gen Ed-to-Gen Ed. In this, Temple University agrees to accept the General Education embedded in Community College of Philadelphia’s Associate in Arts (A.A.) or Associate in Science (A.S.) degree as meeting all the requirements of its undergraduate General Education requirements except for two writing intensive courses to be completed at Temple University as long as the student satisfies the categories below.
To be eligible for Gen Ed-to-Gen Ed a student must earn an A.A. or A.S. and complete the following at Community College of Philadelphia to meet Temple University Gen Ed-to-Gen Ed expectations before transfer to Temple University:
- ENGL 101
- ENGL 102 plus a total of FOUR humanities and social science courses from approved list.
- one math course higher than FNMT 118 from approved list.
- and one lab science course from approved list.
Please see list of approved courses to satisfy these categories
This Gen Ed-to-Gen Ed agreement applies to all A.A. and A.S. degrees and is not limited to students who participate in dual admissions. Gen Ed-to-Gen Ed transfer does not alter the requirements of the student's major field of study.
Temple University’s “45+ Gen Ed” policy is a reduced general education policy for students who:
- earn an A.A. or A.S. degree without satisfying above categories,
- earn an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.), or
- transfer without earning an associate degree but have earned at least 45 transferrable credits from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university.
Students will be responsible for satisfying Temple University’s full general education requirements if they transfer to Temple University with less than 45 transferrable credits from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university.
Please review Temple University General Education Requirement Options for details or visit a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further details.
Program-to-Program
These are agreements in which an entire curriculum or program of study is accepted, so graduates of these specific associate degree programs transfer with advanced standing to a matching specific bachelor's degree program at Temple University.
Search for Programs and Transfer Guides
Transfer guides are created and maintained to help students and staff make appropriate course and program choices. The guides show how the requirements for the appropriate Community College of Philadelphia associate degree transfer to the bachelor's institution. It is, however, possible for program requirements at Community College of Philadelphia or the transfer institution to change without advanced notice.
Transfer guides are not available for all programs. Students are advised to visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.
Dual Admissions Eligibility
Temple University welcomes applicants to the Dual Admissions Program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to Temple University with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering a bachelor's degree program.
To be eligible for this program, students must:
- Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 30 graded college level credits (grades of A, B, C, D, F) from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, they are strongly encouraged to meet with a Temple University undergraduate admissions representative and a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor to develop a course taking strategy.
- Complete the Temple University admissions application form during the last semester at Community College of Philadelphia.
- Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.) or Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in one of the approved programs listed.
- Achieve a minimum Community College of Philadelphia cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.3 within an approved associate program of study. Only courses with a grade of C or higher will be eligible for transfer.
- Enroll directly to Temple University within one year of completing an associate degree program of study from Community College of Philadelphia and not attend another institution between graduation and attendance at Temple University.
To submit a Dual Admissions intent form, login to MyCCP and find "Transfer/Dual Admissions" on the top right side of the MyGPS tab.
