Additional Eligibility Requirements for La Salle University’s Nursing Program
La Salle University offers a traditional day Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a part-time evening BSN program.
The part-time evening BSN Program is called The ACHIEVE BSN Program. Students interested in this program should keep this in mind:
- The part-time evening program has the same academic requirements as the traditional day Nursing program (see below).
- This program typically offers in-person classes two nights a week with an online component. All Clinicals are offered during the weekends with 12 or 8 hour shifts.
- Reviews of applications for the part-time evening ACHIEVE program will begin in February. Complete applications must be submitted no later than by May 1. This program is limited to 30 students.
- Part-time students are eligible to participate in the dual admissions process but are not eligible for scholarships.
The following are the additional requirements for students who wish to enter La Salle University’s traditional day Nursing Program:
- The traditional day BSN program will take three full-time years to complete upon transfer to La Salle University.
- Applications for the BSN program will be reviewed in February. Complete applications must be submitted no later than July 15.
- Students are responsible for sending La Salle University official academic transcripts from high school (or GED scores) and all college/universities attended, as well as submitting two letters of recommendation (one must be academic in nature) and an essay or personal statement.
- All applicants to La Salle University's nursing program must obtain a 3.0 cumulative CCP GPA at the time of applying and must maintain a 3.0 or above for the remainder of their time in their current community college program in order to qualify for admission.
- In addition to possessing a 3.0 cumulative CCP GPA, all applicants must also possess a 3.0 science GPA.
- Students will be permitted to repeat one (1) science (Anatomy & Physiology I, Anatomy & Physiology II, Chemistry or Microbiology) one (1) time in order to obtain the 3.0 science GPA. Students who repeat more than one of these sciences will be automatically disqualified for admission.

- Anatomy & Physiology I and II must be completed within five years. Microbiology and Chemistry must be completed within ten years.

- All science prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of the spring semester prior to the intended fall start term. Students will be permitted to take summer classes in an attempt to complete their liberal arts/core requirements, but no science classes can be completed in the summer.
- All students who are formally admitted to La Salle University’s BSN program will be asked to submit a deposit to secure their place in the fall class. Applications must be completed no later than July 15. Accepted students must confirm their attendance no later than August 1.
- The School of Nursing and Health Sciences is utilizing CastleBranch for background screening and immunization tracking. The student will enroll in CastleBranch when accepted into the nursing major and must be completed prior to the start of the fall academic semester.
- Clinical clearances include a cleared child abuse, a cleared criminal record check from the state of Pennsylvania and primary residence state, a cleared FBI nationwide fingerprint check, negative urine drug screening and completion of health and physical form and immunizations/ titers.

There may be additional requirements as determined by the School of Nursing and requirements are subject to change at La Salle University’s request. Any such changes will be communicated to Community College of Philadelphia in writing and in a timely fashion. Students are also encouraged to communicate directly with La Salle University.
