Diversity Fellowship Program (DFP)
About the Program
The Diversity Fellowship Program (DFP) is jointly sponsored by the College administration, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Faculty and Staff Federation of Community College of Philadelphia. The fellowship offers a unique opportunity for individuals from historically underrepresented groups to gain valuable teaching experience, benefit from intentional mentorship, and raise their college profile. The program’s primary objective is to increase diversity within academic departments at the College, consistent with the mission, goals, and core values of Community College of Philadelphia by providing experiential opportunities for prospective future faculty.
The fellowship may include teaching responsibilities, and participation in curriculum development and innovation in pedagogy. Each Fellow will be required to work on a special project under the supervision of a coach and in coordination with the department and the appropriate college division.
Work Requirement
In addition to teaching one course in their related discipline, if feasible, all fellows are expected to participate in assigned fellowship activities. These activities include but are not limited to:
- Attendance at relevant staff/faculty meetings
- Participation in meetings and professional development activities
- Development and potential implementation of an approved project
- Attendance at Fellowship orientation and professional growth/advancement activities
- Regular meetings with mentor
Participation in the Diversity Fellow Innovation Lab will help prepare interested faculty for the fellowship and make them more appealing candidates.

The Diversity fellowship offers interested participants a unique opportunity for them to be mentored by full-time faculty, increase their campus visibility, get hands-on guidance, and demystify College requirements and expectations.
The goals of the Fellowship program are to:

Who Should Apply?
Motivated part-time faculty, aspiring faculty, or individuals in professional transition who hold a at least at Master’s degree within their desired discipline and wish to teach full-time at a community college should consider this program. Particularly, individuals from underrepresented groups who have a strong desire to teach at an urban community college should apply.

Notification of Acceptance
Selected participants will be notified by the end of the Fall semester. Those individuals chosen to participate in the program will be invited to a Faculty Fellowship Orientation.
