Application Process

If you're looking for a way to give back to your community, gain work experience, prepare for a career in education, or earn Federal Work Study dollars, we invite you to apply to the Adopt-A-School Program today! We welcome students from any major and academic discipline to apply.

Program Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled at Community College of Philadelphia (and remain such while in the program)
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA required
  • Must be in good academic standing (no academic probation) 
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have availability during the school day (Monday - Friday between 9am - 3pm) and be available to tutor in-person
  • If participating in Federal Work Study, must be authorized to work in the United States

*International students are welcome to participate in the program as volunteers, however are not eligible to receive Federal Work Study

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Submit an Adopt-A-School Program application (read the job description here)
  2. Check your Federal Work Study (FWS) eligibility with the Financial Aid Office
  3. Complete background checks and all required training and documentation
  4. Attend tutor training and orientation 
  5. Receive your official school placement and show up for your first day!
