Application Process
The Adopt-A-School Program connects Community College of Philadelphia students with meaningful opportunities to support local schools while gaining hands-on experience. If you're interested in joining the program, follow the steps below to complete your application and begin your journey as Classroom Support Tutor. We welcome students from any major and academic discipline to apply, including international students.
Application Deadline: Join the interest list to find out about upcoming info sessions and be the first to know when the 2025-2026 application opens.

Program Eligibility Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled at Community College of Philadelphia (and remain such) while serving as a tutor
- Minimum 2.0 GPA required and must be in good academic standing
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be a resident of Pennsylvania
- Must have availability during the school day (Monday – Friday between 9am – 3pm) and be able to work in-person
- Must complete all required background clearances, paperwork, and training to work with children
- If awarded Federal Work Study, must be authorized to work in the United States
*International students are welcome to participate in the program as volunteers, however are not eligible to receive Federal Work Study
Step-by-Step Process
- Submit an Adopt-A-School Program application
- Schedule an onboarding appointment
- Check your Federal Work Study (FWS) eligibility with the Financial Aid Office
- Complete background checks and all required training and paperwork
- Attend tutor training and orientation
- Receive your official school placement and show up for your first day!
