Register for Career Connections' workshops and recruitment events on our Handshake software platform:

  1. Login here to sign into MyCCP
  2. Click on the Student Tab at the top of the page
  3. On the left-hand side of the page click on Career Connections and then click on Handshake

On-Campus Recruitment Preparation Tips

  • Log into Handshake to schedule an appointment with a member of the Career Connections Department to get your resume ready. Check out our walk-in hours or schedule an appointment with a Career Connections team member.
  • Check out our calendar of events via Handshake or on webpage. On-Campus Recruitment calendar weekly. Different employers will be on campus weekly, and be on the lookout for the 'NOW Hiring'banners at the main campus and regional centers.
  • Research the companies that interest you. Be prepared to ask at least three questions of the company recruiter by conducting some research on the company and their job/internship opportunities.  
  • Login to Big Interview to review industry specific questions.
  • Create an Action Plan. A little preparation can go a long way!

This workshop will help students of all backgrounds and experience levels discover and demonstrate their marketable skills during the job search. We will focus in on understanding the 8 competencies that employers are looking for, highlighted by the National Association for Colleges and Employers. Then, we will show you how to translate these skills on your resume, cover letter, and in interviews!

Crafting Your Elevator Pitch – Sept. 13, 11:30 a.m. | Virtual Session 

Do you know what you would say if you were in an elevator with the CEO of your dream company? Learn the five steps in making a memorable first impression in 30 seconds so you’re prepared for the next career fair or networking event.

Creating a Standout Résumé – Sept. 14, 6 p.m.: Virtual Session | Sept. 19, 11:30 a.m.: Virtual Session  

Develop a résumé that can open doors and connect you to new opportunities. We’ll show you how to write powerful bullet points and summary statements, and create an easy-to-read format. You’ll also learn how to access our templates and online resources.

The College’s Student Development office and the Institute for Community Engagement and Civic Leadership will share student involvement and volunteering opportunities that count as work experience for your résumé.

Practice Interviews – Sept. 26, 3 to 4 p.m. | Bonnell Building, Room BG-24

Learn the do's and don'ts of interviewing as your Career Connections Pathway coordinators will demonstrate a good and bad interview. You’ll have a chance to illustrate these skills and get feedback as you practice answering interview questions.

Ace the Interview – Sept. 28, 3 to 4 p.m. | Virtual Session 

Develop the skills and confidence to communicate your experiences and wow a potential employer. learn how to interview effectively both in-person and virtually and gain tips for answering the toughest You’ll learn how to give successful interviews in person and virtually, and get tips for answering the tough questions.

Creating a Stand-Out Résumé | Oct. 2, 1 to 2 p.m. | Register for this online session

Learn strategies to develop a résumé that can open doors and connect them to new opportunities. By the end of the workshop, you will understand the key components of a great résumé, including formatting, summary statements and writing powerful bullet points. You will also learn how to access our selection of industry-standard templates and online resources.

All About Cover Letters - Wednesday, Oct. 4, 3 to 4 p.m. | Register

Does your dream job listing ask for a cover letter? Do you know how to write one? Cover letters provide hiring managers with further detail on how your skill set aligns with the role, what you can bring to the team and why you want the position. Cover letters also allow the recruiter and hiring manager to develop a better understanding of your suitability for a position. At this workshop we’ll give you a simple formula to make sure you present yourself well and get an interview.

Hot Job Alert - October 5, 1 to 2 p.m. | Register

The Career Connections Department partners with over 200 employers throughout the Philadelphia Region who are actively hiring our students and alumni for full-time and part-time positions as well as paid internships. Employers will either recruit students virtually through a Hot Job Alert Zoom session or in-person for an On-Campus Recruitment Tabling Event in the Bonnell Lobby,-BG-24.  

No Experience? No Problem! - Oct. 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Register for this online session

No experience? No problem! Do you feel like you don’t have enough experience to put on your résumé? Don’t worry! We will take a deeper dive into finding resources, organizations (on and off campus), and other methods that may sometimes be overlooked when building college-level résumés.

The Lion’s Pathway Job Shadowing Program - Oct. 17, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Register for this online session

Not sure if your chosen career is a good fit? Apply to the Lion’s Pathway Job Shadowing program. In this program, you will be paired with a company that matches your career interest.  You will spend the day shadowing a person who is completing duties/tasks you would like to perform in your career. If you are interested in learning more, join Career Connections and Title III for a job shadowing workshop that will introduce you to the world of job shadowing and provide more information about the Lion’s Pathway Job Shadowing program.

Do you feel torn between pursuing your passions or achieving financial stability? What do you really care about when it comes to work? Come to this workshop to discern your priorities, discuss your workplace ideologies, and leave with a better understanding of yourself and what you want for your future.

Networking Bingo - Oct. 24, 3 to 4 p.m., Room BG-24 | Register

Stop by and practice your networking and elevator pitch skills with other students! By the end of the workshop, students will learn the best tips for networking with high impact, with a chance to directly practice these skills with their peers. All while having fun in a laid-back, completely interactive setting

Professionalism 101 - Virtual, Monday, Oct. 30, 3 to 4 p.m. | Register

This workshop details key techniques of maintaining your professionalism at work and the impact that it can have on your future growth! Learn the dos and don’ts of navigating professional environments and building positive rapport with management. We will give you easy tips that you can implement today, to grow your opportunities and skills for tomorrow.
