Latine Heritage Month Luncheon

Students, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate Latine Heritage Month at our luncheon and program.

You must RSVP to attend this event. Capacity is limited to 200.

Panelists:

Yamelet Del Carmen, Founder, Del Carmen Foundation, and CCP Alum
Yamilet del Carmen is a passionate advocate for education, an entrepreneur, and a philanthropist. Born and raised in a disadvantaged area of Venezuela, she pursued an industrial engineering degree before moving to the United States in 1999 as an international student to further her education. Determined to succeed despite the challenges, she explored various colleges and universities before finding her academic home at the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP).

Virginia Ramirez, Manager, Student Outreach and Retention, CCP
Virginia Ramirez was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, where she earned an Engineering degree from the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra. She later completed a Master of Liberal Arts at the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in International Migration. Ms. Ramirez has cultivated a dynamic career in education and community advocacy.

Maria Lajara, Assistant Principal, Potter-Thomas School (Guest of the Del Carmen Foundation)
Maria Lajara is an assistant principal with more than 10 years of dedicated experience in the field of education. She is passionate about fostering a nurturing and dynamic learning environment that supports the academic, social and emotional growth of every student. Her journey in education, enriched by her background in teaching and school counseling, has been driven by a commitment to innovative teaching practices, collaborative leadership, and the belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed.
