The Accounting degree program provides strong training in accounting theory and the use of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). These skills will prepare students to begin a career as a junior accountant, accounts receivable or accounts payable clerk, bookkeeper, or tax preparer. The required courses will allow students to use general ledger software that is used in the accounting field, learn managerial and cost accounting concepts, interpret financial statements to make accurate economics decisions, and effectively present financial information through verbal and written communications.
Accounting Paraprofessional Proficiency Certificate
The Accounting Paraprofessional proficiency certificate provides courses that will allow students to maintain a career as accounting paraprofessionals within various industries including business, government, and non-profit organizations. This 16 credit-hour certificate will teach concepts such as the use of computer ledger software to record and analyze financial transactions, financial statement preparation that adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and managerial accounting concepts. The proficiency certificate allows students to gain hands-on experience from knowledgeable instructors that will prepare them for entry-level jobs in the workforce or continuing their education at the College by earning the A.A.S. degree in Accounting.
