Professor Oscar Cabrera has been teaching Spanish at Community College of Philadelphia since 2008. He has been teaching Spanish and French in the Philadelphia area since 1998. Originally from Nicaragua, Professor Cabrera moved to the United States in 1986. He obtained a Masters Degree in Spanish Literature from the University of Kansas and a Bachelors of Science in Education with a double Major in Spanish and French from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Christopher DiCapua

Christopher DiCapua has been teaching Spanish at Community College of Philadelphia as a full time faculty member since 2001. The 2014 recipient of the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award, Professor DiCapua is passionate about language learning and teaching. He received his B.A. with a major in Spanish and a minor in Japanese from Rutgers University, and his M.A. in Spanish from the University of Kansas.

Vasiliki Kellar is an Assistant Professor of Spanish. She earned her B.A. in Spanish with a minor in Political Science from Simon Fraser University, her M.A. in Spanish from the University of Ottawa, and her ABD status in Spanish (Applied) Linguistics from the Pennsylvania State University

Massimo Musumeci

Born in Rome, Italy, Massimo Musumeci has been with CCP since 1988. He has been teaching at the college level since 1985. He is currently the Department Head of World Languages. He teaches French and Italian, and has also taught Spanish on many occasions. Professor Musumeci enjoys combining culture and grammar in his classes to provide students a well-rounded and diverse experience. He was hired full-time in 2012.

Vanessa H. Thompson
Assistant Professor of Spanish

Vanessa H Thompson is an assistant professor of Spanish at the Community College of Philadelphia. She was born and raised in Mexicali, Baja California, México. She completed her higher education at San Diego State University. She joined the institution in 2013 after working as a Spanish Instructor in Southern California for 10 years. In 2012, she was invited by the Dallas Community College District, as a visiting scholar. She came to Philadelphia the following year and decided to make this city her new home. Professor Thompson achieved tenure in 2017. She is proudly a member of ACTFL and keeps herself informed with the up-to-date methodologies for language learners. She has a wonderful reputation among her students and truly enjoys teaching.
