College Closed on Monday, February 23

Due to inclement weather, Community College of Philadelphia will be closed on Monday, February 23.

All 7A online and hybrid courses will continue as scheduled. Any scheduled on-campus final exams for 7A courses will be rescheduled. Faculty will contact students directly. All other online, hybrid and in-person classes, work, and activities are canceled. Please note that class cancellations do not apply to students in clinical rotations or those who are scheduled at off-site practicum/observation sites or internships. Program coordinators for clinical rotations, off-site practicum/observation sites and internships should communicate directly with their students regarding tomorrow’s schedule as needed.

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for two-year colleges. The College’s Rho Upsilon chapter is one of 1,200 chapters worldwide. Every semester, students are invited to become members based on their grade point average and the number of credits they have completed at the College. Phi Theta Kappa fosters self-development and encourages member involvement in leadership, honor studies and community-based activities.

Eligibility

Every semester, students are invited to become members based on their grade point average and the number of credits they have completed at the College.

Qualifying students must have already completed at least one full-time semester at the College.

Full-time students must attain one of the following:

  • Completed a minimum of 12 hours with GPA of 3.75
  • Completed a minimum of 25 hours with GPA of 3.60
  • Completed a minimum of 38 hours with GPA of 3.40
  • Completed a minimum of 45 hours with GPA of 3.25

Part-time students (those enrolled for 11 credit hours or fewer) must attain one of the following:

  • Completed a minimum of 18 hours with GPA of 3.75
  • Completed a minimum of 30 hours with GPA of 3.60
  • Completed a minimum of 38 hours with GPA of 3.40
  • Completed a minimum of 45 hours with GPA of 3.25

Events

Induction Ceremonies

Phi Theta Kappa induction ceremonies occur every fall and spring semester. Invitation letters and instructions for submitting applications are mailed to eligible students within the first few weeks of each semester.

Orientation Sessions

This chapter also holds orientation sessions for prospective members at the Main Campus and at the Regional Centers.
