A.A.S. in BHHS
The A.A.S. in Behavioral Health and Human Services is designed for students interested in working with individuals, families, and communities in need. Students study human behavior and development within psychological, social, cultural, and biological contexts, gaining an understanding of how environments and systems influence well-being. The curriculum emphasizes foundational helping skills for working one-on-one and in group settings, along with the professional values and ethical standards that guide the helping professions. Students also develop the cultural awareness and communication skills needed to work effectively in diverse and multicultural environments. Experiential learning is a central component of the program, with students completing two supervised practicum placements in community-based agencies and institutions to apply classroom learning to real-world practice.

BHHS
The Behavioral Health and Human Services Proficiency Certificate provides foundational knowledge and practical skills for students interested in entry-level work in behavioral health and human services. The certificate emphasizes cultural awareness, ethical practice, effective communication, and helping skills needed to support diverse populations, including youth, individuals with disabilities, and older adults. Students explore core concepts in human services and develop competencies that prepare them for roles in community health organizations, social service agencies, and rehabilitation settings. This certificate also serves as a complementary sequence within the Behavioral Health and Human Services A.A.S. degree program, offering a clear pathway to continued education and career advancement.
Addiction Recovery
The Addiction Recovery Proficiency Certificate prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to support individuals in the process of recovery from substance use disorders and other addictive behaviors. This multidisciplinary program explores the biological, psychological, and social aspects of addiction and introduces evidence-based assessment, intervention, and recovery strategies. Students complete classroom instruction and an internship that builds practical skills and prepares them to pursue the Pennsylvania Certified Board’s (PCB) Associate Addiction Counselor certification upon graduation. The certificate also serves as a complementary sequence within the Behavioral Health and Human Services A.A.S. degree program, offering a clear pathway to further study and career opportunities.
