I decided to come here [Community College of Philadelphia] after I got rejected from the Art Institute. They recommended I start very small. I met with Simone Zelitch here and she encouraged me to get into the English program, so I studied English. I like books and I like history. I really wasn’t introduced to Journalism or PR, so the focus was just English and seeing what I could do with that. 

I’m a very shy person, but the College has revamped me. It’s given me skills to interact with other people, learn about different cultures, share my differences and similarities with other people, and even working with financial aid has helped me! 

Editor’s Note: Wanda is a 2015 graduate who is currently studying at the University of Pennsylvania, and will continue her studies at Penn to obtain her Master’s degree in Liberal Arts. She encourages her peers to stay focused, keep up the good grades and to be heavily involved at the College.
