Troy

In order to get out of the halfway house, you had to go to work or school so I went to Campton County College so I could get out and visit people. I came back and came here [Community College of Philadelphia] and I started at the West Campus, and there was an administrator, Ms. Smith—Lillian Smith—she’s retired now, but, as I was taking my classes, I was there instead of sitting at home doing nothing. I was doing my homework, I would help around the College seeing if people needed directions or help, and she used to call me the Mayor of the Community College of the West Campus. So, the opportunity opened up for us [Troy and his wife] to get a house. So we bought a house in Jersey which moves us to the main campus. Student Government opened up for a position, so I ran for president and I won. I’ve been going ever since. I mean I really enjoy what I do—helping people out. I like being in school and being involved.
