I took a training and became a nurse. After that, I worked for three years and eventually got married. When life happened and I got fired from my job, my husband encouraged me to go back to school; and I was worried about doing it, but I ended up enrolling myself at Community College of Philadelphia. I took some classes in Culture, Science and Technology—those classes are considered to be the prerequisite for the bachelor degree program in Nursing. I’m about to finish in May, and then I will start at Jefferson in September!

Editor's Update: Fifonsi graduated from the College in May 2017 and is now in Thomas Jefferson University's Nursing program after receiving a scholarship to attend.
