Commonly Asked Questions

1. I have a pin number on my record when I try to register, what does this mean?

New students must attend a registration event to register for classes. Your PIN will be removed at this event after you receive an academic plan from an academic advisor.  

2. I do not have a Starfish account, why can’t I schedule an appointment?

Starfish accounts are activated 24 hours after a student has registered for classes. New students cannot schedule individual academic advising appointments and instead must attend a registration event for their initial registration at the College. 

3. I’ve previously attended another institution. How can I transfer my credits to CCP? 

If you previously attended another institution, you are considered a transfer student. Transfer students work with Counseling for their initial registration and credit transfer. Please contact the Counseling office for assistance. Once you begin your first semester of classes, you will work with Academic Advising. 

4. I haven’t registered for classes yet, but I want to change my major. What should I do?

Send an email from your CCP account to the Admissions office ( ) with your J number included to ask for your major to be changed or inform the Academic Advising staff member at the Registration Event advising check-in table.  

Please note, there are certain majors you cannot declare due to entry requirements or an application process. There is an * listed next to these Degree and Certificate Programs 

5. I registered for my classes but I do not know the start and end dates. Where can I find this information?

You can check your schedule in MyCCP by clicking on Student Services > Enrollment Services > Enrollment Profile. Your classes will be listed with the start and end date. Detailed instructions 

6. Why are my classes not listed on Canvas?

Most professors do not activate their Canvas page until the start of the semester. Check Canvas closer to the start date of the class and if on the first day of the term, you still do not see your class(es) on your Canvas Dashboard, reach out to your professor(s). You can find your professors’ email addresses in your Enrollment Profile on the MyCCP Portal.
