The Photography Curriculum at Community College of Philadelphia has been educating photographers for over 45 years.

Completion of the program leads to an A.A.S. degree in Photography with courses in still photography, video production and digital imaging. There is also a Digital Imaging Proficiency Certificate for students who do not need the A.A.S

Many students come to the College with no previous photographic experience but with an intense desire to discover themselves through visual media. Additionally we have advanced courses for students with professional experience who want to update their skills, learn a new technology and work with the latest equipment.

Our curriculum provides a solid foundation in the digital photographic arts under the guidance of experienced and caring instructors. Our traditional B&W darkroom courses are popular with incoming students who have only had digital photography experience. Students are able to pursue advanced courses and to consider career opportunities they may not previously have considered including digital retouching, photojournalism, event photography, commercial product or portrait photography and documentary filmmaking.

The department maintains contact with our students and graduates through email and social media to provide information relating to new techniques, technology and work opportunities.
