About the MarcDavid LGBTQ Center
Founded in July 2018, The MarcDavid LGBTQ Center is a one stop resource for LGBTQ Students at Community College of Philadelphia. The Center was created out of a partnership with The MarcDavid Foundation, who provided funding for the Center through a generous donation to CCP, and funds LGBTQ scholarships at CCP and many other schools in the Philadelphia Area. The Center provides resources and programming for the LGBTQ community on campus, but we also direct students to already existing resources at CCP and around the City. We offer fun social events, educational trainings, and provide resources to and advocate for LGBTQ Students. Programming is one of the more visible things the center does, but many of our efforts focused on the student experience in our offices and classrooms.
We want every student to know that our door is open for any reason you might need us. If you are having a hard time connecting with other LGBTQ Students, dealing with discrimination or microaggressions on campus, or even if you are having problems at home, we are here. We are also here for allies who may have questions about the LGBTQ Community. The Community College of Philadelphia is an incredibly diverse institution, and the LGBTQ community is similarly diverse. The MarcDavid LGBTQ Center is made for the entire community, and we expect that all members of the community will be treated with respect. Homophobia, racism, transphobia, sexism, misogyny, ableism, islamophobia, body shaming, or any other form of discrimination is not welcome in any of our spaces.
