Members of the College community joined in the Bonnell Lobby to honor our nation's veterans on Friday, December 10, 2017.
Saxbys hosted a Pay-As-You-Wish Preview Party to help launch it's new location at 18th and Chestnut streets. All of the proceeds from the day go to the newly established Saxbys Fellowship, which will provide scholarships to Community College of Philadelphia students.
Community College Foundation Board member and Saxbys CEO Nick Bayer announced the fellowship at the event, which featured an all-star lineup of guests, including Mayor Kenney, Chris Long and Rodney McLeod from the Philadelphia Eagles, Councilman Allan Domb, Representative Jordan Harris, and Quincy Harris from Fox 29.
Community College of Philadelphia faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds shared their heritage and personal experiences with the audience. The panel discussion was followed by questions and answers with the audience.
Student Involvement Day was an afternoon of food, fun, and information.

The Latino/a Faculty Appreciation Lunch was held in the the Mint Rotunda where Dr. Generals addressed the crowd.
Nationally renowned artist, Roberto Lugo, spoke and gave a studio demonstration that included tricks of the trade as well as historic information about ceramics, philosophical ideas and life events that have influenced him.
The College's first LGBTQ conference, held at the Center for Business and Industry on October 5 and 6, was a big success.

Dr. Generals and Dr. Kenneth Hawkinson, president of Kutztown University, signed a ceremonial dual admissions agreement to help put Community College of Philadelphia students on a path to a four-year degree.
President Dr. Generals shares his thoughts with students, faculty, and staff on Latina/o Heritage and current events. He and the audience have a lively discussion about history, art, and politics.
