Lynette Brown-Sow Celebration
A diverse community of friends gathered on Monday, January 29, 2018, for an "Afternoon in Paris" to celebrate the career of Lynette Brown-Sow at Community College of Philadelphia. A long and distinguished lineup of speakers shared what they love, appreciate and admire most about Lynette. Speakers included Dr. Generals; Mayor Kenney; the Honorable Edward G. Rendell; City Council President Darrell L. Clarke; members of City Council, including the Honorable Cherelle Parker, the Honorable Blondell Reynolds-Brown, the Honorable Curtis Jones, the Honorable Jannie Blackwell, the Honorable Kenyatta Johnson and former Councilwoman, the Honorable Marian Tasco. State representatives included the Honorable Anthony H. Williams, the Honorable Jordan Harris and the Honorable Joanna McClinton. Mentors also spoke of their long history with Lynette, including Delores Brisbon, Nancy Moses and Rhonda Cohen. Board affiliates included Kelvin Jeremiah, President & CEO of the Philadelphia Housing Authority; Robert Bogle, President & CEO of the The Philadelphia Tribune; and Jeff Fleischer, CEO of Youth Advocate Programs. Jachai May, a student who will graduate in May 2018, and Josephine DiGregorio, Executive Assistant in the President's Office, represented the College community. Members of Lynette's Marketing and Government Relations division shared their sentiments through a video (see below). Mistress of Ceremony, Cherri Gregg, Community Affairs Reporter for KYW News, deftly guided the program. Lynette closed the program with remarks that all will remember to be part of her legacy in this community and beyond.
