Seminar Description
For students, “Transfer” is the ultimate Bridge! BUT…

“About one university or college per week so far this year, on average, has announced that it will close or merge. That’s up from a little more than two a month last year, according to the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association, or SHEEO.” (Washington Post, April 26, 2024.)

This article asked, “What happens to the students?” And while this is a valid question, I’m more concerned about "What happens to CCP students who intend to transfer to these institutions?"

It is a “student’s market” (akin to buyer’s or seller’s market)! They have choice and more agency than they think. Planning, choosing and deciding on a transfer institution is always complicated, but CCP has the responsibility to educate and empower students to make the choice that best supports and fits their needs. Let’s help students "build their bridge" while they are still students at CCP!

By the end of this workshop, you to learn how we can ALL educate students to:

  • Become empowered
  • Navigate the complex transfer system and
  • Negotiate for better transfer opportunities
