Participants will: 

  • Discuss the complexities of modern masculinity. 
  • Review consent and how to promote a culture of consent and allyship within your community. 
  • Identify internal and external barriers to emotional support for men. 
  • Define how to support critical conversations about these issues among students. 

Seminar Description 

How do traditional notions of masculinity get in the way of giving and receiving emotional support? This interactive workshop supports folks to identify internal and external barriers around emotional support for men and masculine people. Together, we will define masculinity draw, identify components of a Nurturance  Culture, and draw from people's lived experiences in order to start building a culture where everyone's emotional needs are met. Training will be done in partnership with experts from WOAR: Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence.
