Learning Goals
Participants will:

• Learn when, why, and how to refer students to an academic advisor.
• Learn how to connect with an academic advisor for support for their own advising practice.
• Learn about some of the common challenges students encounter with College policies and practices, and will learn about available resources to help them help students with their decision-making.
• Learn about common tools Academic Advisors use with students and how they too can access those tools.

Seminar Description
Not all heroes wear capes—sometimes they wear business casual attire and a CCP lanyard. The Department of Academic Advising has grown considerably since it was formed in 2016. Come meet new faces in the CCPverse or say hello to familiar ones. Learn why and how you should refer a student to an Academic Advisor; learn about some of the common speed bumps students encounter and how to navigate through them; and get tips and encouragement for your own practice of supporting students.
