Learning Goals
Participants will:

  • Learn how to use board games, like Checkers and Chess, as an icebreaker and team- building exercise.
  • Learn how to play the "Climate Community" board game.
  • Learn ways to adapt board games for their subject matter/students.

Seminar Description
Are you interested in using board games as potential icebreakers and team-building exercises? Are you interested in teaching about climate change and how it impacts our world? In this seminar you will learn how to the implement Checkers, Chess, and the Climate Community board game into your classroom. During the session setting up class tournaments will be explored, and a few rounds of the Climate Community board game will be played to illustrate how learning connected to gaming can take place.
