Seminar Description

ELLs (English Language Learners) very often begin their journey at the College with apprehensions since English is not their first language. Moreover, their unfamiliarity with the American educational system adds to their apprehensions and trepidations. Non-ELL students also need a strong social network and a sense of fulfillment to sustain their engagement in their academic endeavors at the College. Keeping this in mind, the presenters, who are from different departments, planned a collaborative venture that brought both groups of students together to support each other in their final project for their respective classes. The presenters will share how they planned and implemented the process of bringing together the two student groups to collaborate with each other. They will also share students’ feedback and their own observations on how such a collaboration benefitted the students.
