  • Be able to implement engaging threaded discussions for the classes they teach.

Program Description

The presenters successfully engaged students with weekly threaded discussions in online math classes starting in the fall of 2020. Each weekly discussion started with a prompt, such as a request for comment on a pithy quote from a mathematician or a request to name real-world math applications. We are subjectively excited about our outcomes and would like to share what we did with others. It is our impression that threaded discussions are unusual in math and science classes and we hope that others can benefit.
