  • Learn about the historical and current demographic trends in ELLs in the US
  • Discuss faculty experiences with ELLs at CCP

Program Description

This session will introduce participants to the general state of English Language Learners (ELLs) in the US. This begins with recognizing the different “categories” of ELLs; contrary to popular assumptions, all ELLs are not the same, and most ELLs in the US are actually born and raised in this country. Understanding the nuances of ELL experiences strengthens a teacher’s standing in the classroom as it creates a space to connect with students on a deeper level and develop better rapport.
