  2. Learn about models for incorporating source materials in a range of College courses and partnering with community institutions.
  3. Become familiar with the resources of the Presbyterian Historical Society, a national archives that collects, preserves and shares local, national and global history with students, scholars and the general public.

Program Description:

For the past two years students at the College have been exploring primary and rare secondary source documents held at the Presbyterian Historical Society, one of the nation’s largest denominational archives. CCP faculty members in history, religious studies, English, architecture, creative writing and Honors, have worked with PHS archival staff to create High Impact Practices that empower our students to ask questions about the past and pursue answers. This session will feature College faculty members and Historical Society archival staff. It has also led to internship and fellowship opportunities for our students. This session will provide a range of replicable models for working with local archives, libraries and museums. It will also share examples of student outcomes and early assessment of the project’s impact. This project is funded under a Pew Center for Arts & Heritage Project Grant received to PHS.
