Participants will:

  • Meet the College’s Financial Literacy Student Success Coach and learn about financial empowerment resources that can enrich the student experience and your classroom. 
  • Become acquainted with the holistic approach to financial planning, college affordability and college transfer that is crucial to student academic success. 
  • Understand how exposure to financial literacy education can positively impact students and the unique challenges they face such as student retention, graduation rates, and financing college transfers. 
  • Learn how the Director of Articulation and Transfer and the Financial Literacy Student Success Coach have collaborated to empower students to save and find money for college. 

Seminar Description
This seminar is designed to inspire faculty, administration and staff to incorporate holistic financial literacy resources, education and general awareness in their day-to-day interactions with students, whether in the classroom, advising a student group, mentoring students, servicing a cohort or creating college policies. According to recent literature, financial literacy education is pivotal to students in community colleges who are facing numerous economic hardships. It leads to stronger student retention rates and increased transfer success. This approach will transform any higher education professional seeking a fresh look to putting the student first.
