• Participants will learn about the ways in which this position has strengthened and can continue to strengthen the ESL support system at the College

Seminar Description

The ESL Liaison is a position at CCP that is gaining recognition. This session will introduce participants to the role, describe the rationale for such a position, and lay out all the ways the ESL Liaison can and has been supporting the College in meeting ESL student needs. This includes support to College departments, such as Advising, Counseling and Financial Aid, to name a few; support for non-ESL faculty who may need assistance with "formerly ESL-status" students; collaboration with Admissions and Advising to facilitate new student intake process; and collaboration with Marketing to ensure that everyone knows that we have the best ESL program in the city. Throughout the session, there will be one brainstorming activity on all the ways participants would be able to benefit from the ESL Liaison, and one group discussion activity on how to build a more solid infrastructural support system through this new role.
