Experiential learning fosters self-awareness by encouraging reflection on personal experiences. The heightened understanding developed allows leaders to adapt their styles to various situations, enhancing decision-making and their approach to problem solving.

Meet the Office of Student Leadership Development's Next Steps AmeriCorps Food Sovereignty and the Lion Leader Teams.  Ask questions and pick up some fresh fruit and produce from 1:30 p.m. until supplies last.  Bring your own reusable bags to fill up!  

 

The Next Steps AmeriCorps program engages college students in community service, mentoring, supportive workshops and leadership development. Participants known as Corps members, complete 300 hours of community service in the course of one year. Corps are placed with community service placements and also mentor one incoming first-year student as part of their service. Team Leaders will be an integral part of the Next Steps AmeriCorps program and will be placed in Colleges and Universities. At Community College of Philadelphia, AmeriCorps members are a part of the Food Sovereignty Team for Grady's Community Garden. Specific activities include: Assist in planning, managing and harvesting the garden, facilitating co/extra-curricular and student-engagement activities; create a friendly and supportive environment that helps keep Next Steps mentors and mentees engaged with the program; Help plan and support “All Corps Events,” periodic day-long training and leadership development events for mentors and mentees.
 
The Lion Leader Student Programming Board are student leaders work for the Office of Student Engagement/Center for Student Leadership Development. These are highly motivated, creative student who love the student experience at CCP.  These student create programs for students by students and support all programs out of the Office of Student Engagement/Center for Student Leadership Development.
