Juneteenth Celebration 2024.

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19th to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth Video LibraryMain Campus- Juneteenth CelebrationThe Office of Student Engagement/Center for Student Leadership Development and the All Black Faculty and Staff Alliance host a celebration in honor of Juneteenth.Date: Tuesday, June 18, 2024Location: Winnet Building Front CourtyardTime: 11-2 p.m.Come and enjoy the giveaways, Juneteenth information, music, African drumming, participate in the drum circle at 1 p.m. - bring your own drum, bell or African shekere, free hot lunch with a menu inspired by traditional African cuisine along with the food traditionally eaten on Juneteenth and at 1:30 receive free fresh produce and fruit hosted by Grady's Community Garden Food Sovereignty Leadership Team. 
 
*IF YOU ARE UP BRIGHT AND EARLY, JOIN US FOR A SPECIAL JUNETEENTH PAINTING WITH A TWIST EVENT AT 9:30 am.
