I Am More Film Festival
Thursday, April 3 | 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. | Main Campus, The Great Hall (S2-19)
Join us for the I Am More Film Festival, featuring two powerful short films and a panel discussion. This festival will explore the effects of incarceration through the lens of cinema and demonstrate how art creates connections among diverse communities.
Film Screenings
“Concrete, Steel, and Paint”
This critically acclaimed film tells the complex stories of men in prison, victims of crime and an artistic partnership that helps break down barriers between them. As the centerpiece of our event, this film will set the stage for meaningful discussions about the impact of incarceration and the transformative power of artistic expression.
“Pardon Me”
Exploring the concept of a pardon—a legal mechanism that allows the governor of a state to erase a person's criminal past—this film highlights the experiences of two individuals burdened by their criminal records, examines the pardon process in Pennsylvania, and advocates for systemic changes that can repair the devastation caused by criminal arrests on families and communities.
A discussion focused on restorative justice and the arts will follow the films. Our panelists will include:
- Damon McWhite – Jobs Developer, Mural Arts
- Jane Golden – Director, Mural Arts
- Luis Gonzalez – I Am More Coach, CCP
- Shuja Moore – Director, "Pardon Me"
- Tony Heriza – Director, "Concrete, Steel, and Paint"
- Rico Dallas – Director and writer, Disney
- Ralphy Lopez - Actor (“The Madness,” “Brewster's Millions,” “Mr. & Ms. Smith,” “The Chambers – In God We Trust,” and “American Sport Story”)
We hope to see you there.
