Progressions in Songwriting with Artist in Residence Ben O'Neill, with special guest John Faye

The Artist in Residence (AIR) program provides an opportunity for musicians to teach students about their industry experience as they gain real-world credentials for their career, and create an EP or full-length album release for Spring Garden Records at the College’s studio.

About the Artists

Ben O’Neill

O’Neill is a guitarist, songwriter, singer, and educator with extensive experience recording in the pop, R&B, gospel, jazz, and rock genres. A graduate from University of the Arts, he is an adjunct associate professor at his alma mater. O’Neill’s musical career began at the age of 18 as part of Tye Tribbett’s genre-changing band, Soundcheck. He has performed, recorded, and co-written songs with influential artists like John Legend, Jill Scott, Common, Sting, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Tye Tribbett, Musiq Soulchild, Bilal, and more. O’Neill has appeared on “The Tonight Show” and “Good Morning America,” and has performed at the Hollywood Bowl, the O2, and at big festivals, small clubs, performing arts centers, and local churches. He has toured 35 countries and 6 continents, performing for millions around the world.

John Faye

Since his tenure fronting the 90's alternative rock band the Caulfields, who released two albums on A&M Records, John Faye  has been a fixture in the mid-Atlantic music community with projects like the John Faye Power Trip and IKE whose song "Into Philadelphia" is a perennial staple on WMMR. His solo work recently won five 2023 Delaware Public Media (NPR) Homey Awards, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Song for "Lightning In A Bottle," his collaboration single with fellow Philly artist Sug Daniels. He is producer, mentor and retired songwriting professor at Drexel University.
