The Community College of Philadelphia Academic Advisors would like to take this opportunity to welcome back returning students, and welcome new students to the College for the fall 2018 semester.

As your Academic Advisors we are able to assist you with:

  • Developing an educational plan that leads to the timely completion of your educational goals
  • Exploring dual admissions and transfer opportunities
  • Evaluating personal interests and abilities leading to the creation of realistic academic and professional goals
  • Clarifying program requirements, policies and procedures

Important Announcement

Please review the policy for adding courses after a term has begun.

In-person Courses for 15-week and 10-week classes, where courses meet more than one day per week:

  • If a course has met once, no approval is needed.
  • If a course has met for two class periods, then the written approval of the instructor is required to add a course prior to the third class session.
  • If a course has met for three to four class periods, then the written approval of the instructor and the respective department head (or designee) is required to add a course.
  • If a course has met for five or more class periods, then the written approval of the instructor, the respective department head and the respective division dean (or designee) is required to add a course.

In-person for 7-week courses or less:

  • If a course has met for one class period, then written approval of the instructor is required to add a course.
  • If a course has met for two class periods, then written approval of the instructor, and the respective department head (or designee) is required to add a course.
  • If a course has met for three or more class periods, then written approval of the instructor, the respective department head and the respective division dean (or designee) is required to add a course.

In-person for one-day-per-week courses:

  • For any term at the College (e.g., 7, 10, 15 week terms), for one day per week courses, if a course has met for one class period, but not two, the written approval of the instructor is required to add a course.
  • If a course has met for two class periods, then written approval of the instructor and the respective department head (or designee) is required to add a course.
  • If a course has met for three or more class periods, then written approval of the instructor, the respective department head and the respective division dean (or designee) is required to add a course.

Hybrid and Online courses:

  • In the case of hybrids and fully online courses, approval is not required to add a course on the first two college business days from the start of the term.
  • The instructor’s written approval is required to add a course on the third and fourth business days from the start of the term.
  • The instructor’s written approval and the respective department head’s approval is required to add a course on the fifth and sixth business day from the start of the term.
  • If a course has met for seven or more business days, then the written approval of the instructor, the respective department head and the respective division dean (or designee) is required to add a course.

Please note:

For any hybrids and fully online courses that are 7 weeks or less, once the term begins, instructor, department head and respective division dean (or designee) is required to add a course.

For the Winter term only, once the term begins, instructor and the respective division dean (or designee) is required to add a course.
