General Information:

This guide outlines an agreement between the Associate in Arts(A.A.) in Psychology at Community College of Philadelphia and the Bachelor of Arts in (B.A.) in Psychology at Temple University. Completion of the A.A. in Psychology as described in this guide leads to junior standing in the B.A. in Psychology at Temple University.

Students who earn the A.A. in Psychology qualify for the Gen Ed to Gen Ed agreement. Temple University agrees to accept the General Education embedded in Community College of Philadelphia’s Associate in Arts (A.A.) or Associate in Science (A.S.) degree as meeting all the requirements of its undergraduate General Education requirements except for two writing intensive courses to be completed at Temple University.

Students who intend to earn a Bachelor of Artsin Psychology within the College of Liberal Arts at Temple University must satisfy the foreign language and world society requirement in one of the following ways. Students may satisfy any of these options while attending Community College of Philadelphia. 

  1. Complete two courses in world society and the second semester of a foreign language,
  2. Complete one course in world society and the first intermediate level (third semester) of foreign language,
  3. Complete one course in world society, at least the second semester of a foreign language, and study abroad in a program approved by the university, or
  4. Complete HUM 150 at Community College of Philadelphia and the second semester of a foreign language.

Students whose native language is not English or students who are proficient in reading and writing another language may satisfy the foreign language requirement through a competency test administered after transfer to Temple University or by evidence of a high school diploma earned at an institution at which English was not the primary language.

Of that, 6 credits must be outside the student's major division (e.g. Social Sciences or Humanities)
