General Information:

This guide shows how the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Criminal Justice at Community College of Philadelphia transfers to Temple University’s Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Criminal Justice and makes specific recommendations to maximize the transfer of credit. This guide is based on requirements of the Community College of Philadelphia degree, Temple University’s Transfer Course Equivalency Tool and requirements for the B.A. in Criminal Justice.

Note:While Community College of Philadelphia A.A.S. degrees do not qualify for the Temple University Dual Admissions Agreement and the College does not have a Program-to-Program agreement for these majors, students who earn the A.A.S. in Criminal Justice can successfully transfer their courses to Temple University. Up to 18 credits of Criminal Justice courses can transfer to the B.A. in Criminal Justice major; additional Criminal Justice courses transfer as general electives.

It is recommended that students take the appropriate courses to try to satisfy their Temple University General Education requirements while attending Community College of Philadelphia. For guidance in satisfying Temple University’sgeneral education requirements refer to the Temple University transfer page[sgt2] and/or meet with a Community College of Philadelphia Academic Advisor or Counselor.

Transferring to Temple University’s B.A. in Criminal Justice without earning an A.A.S. in Criminal Justice requires earning at least 15 college level credits with at least a 2.5 cumulative Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) for Temple University transfer admissions consideration.

For Dual Admissions with Temple University, it is recommended that students pursue an A.A. in Liberal Arts or A.A. in Liberal Arts-Social/Behavioral Science.

Earning the A.A.S. in Criminal Justice can also be beneficial to students who seek employment in law enforcement after earning the associate degree.

Substitutions:to request course substitutions students must submit a “Course Substitution for Graduation Form” by accessing: Student tab of MyCCP, Dynamic Forms, Records and Registration Forms.
