General Information:
This transfer guide is developed in support of the program-to-program agreement between the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Community College of Philadelphia. It shows how the requirements for the Associate in Art (A.A.) in Art and Design at Community College of Philadelphia transfer to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) and the coursework required at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago after transfer.
To receive transfer credit, the courses must be substantially equivalent to courses offered in the curriculum at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and courses must be completed with a grade of C (C=2.0) or better. Submission of a portfolio and a minimum 2.0 final cumulative Community College of Philadelphia grade point average (GPA) must be earned to gain admission to this program.
Completion of the A.A. in Art and Design at Community College of Philadelphia will allow the student to achieve the equivalent of third-year junior standing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The maximum number of studio credits that can transfer to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is 33 with a total of 66 transfer credits accepted. Students are required to complete a maximum of 126 credits at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. All transfer students are required to take Research Studio for Transfers upon enrollment at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
