Black History Month

The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), established on September 9, 1915 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, founded Black History Month. The association continues the work and mission of Dr. Woodson, who is known as the "Father of Black History."

This year’s theme is African Americans and the Vote.

The College Library subscribes to the African American History database, from Infobase.
