Equity in Higher Education Virtual Session at HACC

We wanted to share the following professional development opportunity with you. Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) is hosting Dr. Kevin Gannon as their first Diversity Scholar-in-Residence to help educators explore how we can better infuse inclusive excellence and equity into our learning environments and work with students. Below is information on two sessions that will be open to the public. While these sessions do fall during our PD Week, some faculty may be interested in attending.

If you are interested, please register by Jan. 11, 2021, using the links below. Sessions are limited to the first 500 registrants.

  1. Welcome and Keynote Address on “Radical Hope: A Teaching Manifesto”

Jan. 12, 2021, 9-10:30 a.m.

What does it mean to create a teaching and learning community grounded in an ethic of hope during times that seem less-than-hopeful? This session explores both the theory and some specific practices involved in a pedagogy of hope, and challenges us to create teaching and learning spaces in which all of our students can succeed. Dr. Gannon’s keynote address will begin after the welcome.
