Learning Goals
Participants will…

  1. deepen and broaden their understanding of CCP as an institution,
  2. become familiar with resources and benefits available to CCP adjunct faculty, and
  3. learn about ways to support their students’ success.

Program Description
The session will begin with brief (3-5 min.) presentations by a panel of “CCP experts” about how to succeed as an adjunct at CCP. After the presentations there will be a Q&A session. This open format will allow panelists to respond to the needs and prior knowledge of the attendees. To allow as many adjuncts as possible to attend, the seminar should be offered more than once during the professional development period.

First 10-15 minutes: Welcome and Introductions. Seminars will begin with a short “welcome to CCP” spiel: a word about the value of adjuncts to CCP’s mission and their place in the College community. Everyone in the room (panelists and attendees) introduces themselves: names and pronouns, CCP department(s), other workplaces, and a brief description of experience with adjunct teaching. (This portion may be recorded.)

Next 15-20 minutes: Panelist Presentations. The general principle guiding the content of the presentations will be that panelists should use their unique personal institutional knowledge of CCP to help new adjuncts to feel welcome at CCP and ready to have a successful semester. (This portion may be recorded.)

The remaining 25-35 minutes will be devoted to Q&A and discussion. (This portion will not be recorded.) Topics to be determined by panelists' individual expertise within the following areas:1) How do adjuncts contribute to the mission of the College, 2) Benefits and Resources, 4) How to be successful as an adjunct at CCP
