Continued increases in COVID-19 cases throughout the city and the region have resulted in additional changes to the College’s spring 2022 semester.
Community College of Philadelphia will continue to operate on a fully remote schedule through Monday, Feb. 14. This means that, with the exception of essential employees, all staff and calendar-year faculty will be expected to work remotely from now through Feb. 14. Essential employees will be notified about their schedules by their supervisors.
Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 15, we expect staff and calendar-year faculty will be able to return to campus while maintaining their fall semester 2021 schedules at approximately 50 percent capacity unless otherwise directed by their supervisor.
COVID-19 Testing Before Accessing Campus
Beginning Monday, Jan. 10, regardless of vaccination status, anyone who needs to access campus must first be tested for COVID-19 at the Campus Testing Center, located in the Winnet Student Life Building Cofeehouse. The Testing Center is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Individuals will still need to use their ID cards to swipe in, but will also need to provide a negative test result from the Campus Testing Center before accessing campus. Test results are valid for 72 hours. Testing is also available at the Regional Centers:
- Northeast Regional Center – 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Northwest Regional Center – 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- West Regional Center – 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Impact on Classes
A majority of classes will be held remotely through Feb. 14. Most classes that were expected to meet in person will be required to meet via synchronous Zoom classes. Only courses with in-person lab requirements or other components that cannot be completed online will meet in person. Starting Feb. 15, courses will be offered in their original format (hybrid or in person). In the near future, we will provide information about the list of classes that will be meeting remotely through Feb. 14.
Also beginning Monday, Jan. 10, anyone who needs to access campus must wear a KN95 mask, or double mask (with a cloth mask and surgical mask). Masking will be required throughout the spring 2022 semester. For information on how to double mask, please read this guidance from the CDC.
All faculty, staff and students must receive their booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by May 16, or, if not eligible by May 16, within 30 days of their eligibility to receive the booster. You are eligible if:
- You received the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine at least two months ago;
- You received the Pfizer vaccine series five months ago or more; or
- You received the Moderna vaccine series six months ago or more.
The College will provide instructions on how to upload your card with proof of a booster dose in the near future.
The College strongly encourages all faculty, staff and students to get their booster as soon as they are eligible prior to the May 16 mandate taking effect.
Community College of Philadelphia will continue to operate on a fully remote schedule through Monday, Feb. 14. This means that student support services will continue to be available remotely during this time.
