Keeping Our Community Safe | March 31

In an effort to keep you informed about the COVID-19 vaccine, Community College of Philadelphia would like to share the following important information.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is announcing an accelerated vaccine strategy. Beginning April 19, all Pennsylvania residents will be eligible to start scheduling vaccination appointments.

However, individuals in Phases 1B and 1C will be eligible to start scheduling appointments even earlier. Starting today, March 31, workers in four key industries (law enforcement, firefighters, grocery stores, and food and agriculture) are eligible to schedule vaccines. On April 5, all residents in Phase 1B will be eligible to schedule appointments. All residents in Phase 1C will be able to start scheduling vaccines on April 12. To learn more about vaccine eligibility in Pennsylvania, visit this website.

This accelerated timetable will most likely not affect vaccine distribution in Philadelphia, which is adhering to its own distribution schedule. However, Philadelphia Department of Public Health Commissioner Thomas Farley has shared that individuals in Phase 1C, which includes higher education, will be eligible for vaccination in April. He also shared yesterday he expects the City to open eligibility to all adults by May 1. More information about eligibility can be found on the City’s website.
