View Institution Transfer Agreement

The Community College of Philadelphia has a program-to-program transfer agreement with Moore College of Art and Design. To benefit from this Agreement, students must earn an Associate in Art degree in Art and Design before transfer.

Under this Agreement, Moore College of Art and Design will accept all or most of the courses from the Associate in Art (A.A.) degree in Art and Design from Community College of Philadelphia to satisfy half of the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Arts assuring third-year junior status.

Transfer guides are created and maintained to help students and staff make appropriate course and program choices. The guides show how the requirements for the appropriate Community College of Philadelphia associate degree transfer to the bachelor's institution. It is, however, possible for program requirements at Community College of Philadelphia or the transfer institution to change without advanced notice.

Admissions Criteria

Under this Agreement, Moore College of Art and Design guarantees admissions to their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with third-year (junior) status on the condition the student satisfies the following terms and conditions:

  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an A.A. in Art and Design.
  • Achieve a minimum 2.5 cumulative Community College of Philadelphia grade point average (GPA) within their associate program of study. Only courses with a grade of "C-" or higher will be eligible for transfer.
  • Meet deadlines for application (fee waived), payment of fees and other registration requirements that apply to other entering students at Moore College of Art and Design.
  • Submit a portfolio with between 8 and 12 pieces of artwork as part of the application process. Students in the A.A. in Art and Design will develop their portfolio during their ART 290 Portfolio Preparation course taught every fall semester.
  • Enroll at Moore College of Art and Design within one year of completing their A.A. in Art and Design from Community College of Philadelphia not attend another institution between graduation and attendance at Moore College of Art and Design.

Students pursuing the A.A. in Art and Design are strongly encouraged to talk with a Moore College of Art and Design Admissions Representative and/or a Community College of Philadelphia Program Advisor for the A.A. in Art and Design curriculum to develop a course taking strategy to maximize course transferability.


NOTE:

  • Students are responsible for sending Moore College of Art and Design official transcripts for evaluation of credit from all institutions attended. Credit will may be awarded for AP, etc. with appropriate documentation. Developmental courses are not eligible for transfer.
  • Community College of Philadelphia students who transfer are responsible only for requirements in place at Community College of Philadelphia as of the date of their enrollment in the A.A. in Art and Design curriculum at Community College of Philadelphia.
  • The maximum number of semester hours that can transfer to Moore College of Art and Design is 76 for matching curricula. Students enrolled in an undergraduate program of study at Moore College of Art and Design are required to complete a maximum of 126 credits. Students are advised to follow the Transfer Guide for this Agreement.
  • Students who have pursued a Community College of Philadelphia associate degree other than the A.A. in Art and Design or who do not earn the associate degree in Art and Design and who wish to transfer to Moore College of Art and Design are not covered by this Agreement. Such students will be considered for admissions on an individual basis and their credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.

Advantages

Students who participate in this Agreement are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Application fee to Moore College of Art and Design will be waived for Community College of Philadelphia graduates who apply to the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Moore College of Art and Design with an A.A. in Art and Design.
  • Moore College of Art and Design Transfer Partnership Award for Community College of Philadelphia graduates with a 2.5 or higher GPA.
  • Informational meetings with Moore College of Art and Design representative during the Community College of Philadelphia’s ART 290 Portfolio Preparation course taught every fall semester.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

Transfer Partnership Award

Transfer Partnership Awards are based on a student’s Community College of Philadelphia GPA, quality of their portfolio and a holistic review of the entire application. Scholarship amounts are in the range of $6,000 to $18,000 and are renewable based on the student maintaining a minimum 2.5 Moore College of Art and Design GPA.

Honors Program Scholarship

The Visionary Woman Honors Program Scholarship is in the amount of $20,000 annually. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have a 3.7 GPA and an outstanding portfolio. Students awarded this scholarship are not eligible for the Transfer Partner Award or other Moore College of Art and Design merit-based scholarships. 

Renewal of scholarships is predicated on students receiving credit for all enrolled classes at Moore College of Art and Design.

Financial Aid

All transfer students will be provided with Moore College of Art and Design financial aid information and receive full consideration for Moore College of Art and Design financial aid upon matriculation at Moore College of Art and Design just like non-transfer students with junior status.

Students who transfer under this agreement are also eligible for and have equal access to housing on the same basis as other students with junior status.
