Diversity Certificate Program: White Privilege and Its Role in Racism Part 4

Why can it be so hard for white people to talk about race and racism? Are there ways that white people can better understand their role in the larger racial narrative and build their cultural literacy in order to more effectively combat the injustices they see and take meaningful action against them? Our learning community will focus on ways that white faculty and staff answer these questions, as well as develop strategies for recognizing and managing the difficult emotions that sometimes arise when discussing race in order to become better listeners, educators and anti-racist allies, and to more effectively support diversity initiatives on campus.
